My daughter’s 5th grade class read the book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. In it, the main character learns a great deal about her mother. My daughter and her classmates had to interview their mothers and then write an essay about us using the interview questions. One of those questions was “What makes you angry?” My response was quick, and without pause. “Knowing the world could be a much better place if we all treated each other a little bit better.” It was the truth.
On this last day of 2013 I would like to recognize a few of the great acts of “treating each other a little bit better” and thank friends like Sue Williams who used facebook to raise enough funds to feed 300 orphans in Uganda a Christmas dinner and Michelle Gillespie who knows how to rally the troops to help a good cause like Squanstrong or the band or just a friend in need. Family like Tara Coppola who tirelessly reminds us all to think of others and appreciate what life has given us, and social media for helping to spread the word a little easier. Let’s rock 2014 with a little bit of better treatment for those around us. In the meantime, here’s a few things from 2013 I thought were awesome.
Happy New Year!
